Our Story
From Vision to Reality
Nauvoo Global Methodist Church was born from a vision to create a faith community where people could encounter the transforming love of Jesus Christ in authentic, meaningful ways. Our congregation has grown from a small gathering of faithful believers into a thriving community that serves our local area and reaches out to the world.
The Methodist Heritage
Our roots trace back to the 1720s when John Wesley, his brother Charles, and fellow students at Oxford University formed a "Holy Club" dedicated to methodical spiritual disciplines. Mocked as "Methodists" for their disciplined devotion, they embraced the name and ignited a movement that would transform Christianity worldwide.
The Wesley brothers' emphasis on personal holiness, social justice, and evangelism created a dynamic faith tradition. John Wesley famously declared, "The world is my parish," capturing the global vision that continues to inspire us today. From those humble beginnings in England, Methodism spread across continents, bringing hope, education, and spiritual renewal to millions.
The Global Methodist Church
In 2022, the Global Methodist Church was formally launched as a new expression of Wesleyan Christianity, committed to historic Christian teaching and the authority of Scripture. As part of this movement, Nauvoo GMC stands firm on biblical orthodoxy while maintaining Wesley's emphasis on grace, holiness, and mission.
We joined the Global Methodist Church because of its clear theological foundation and unwavering commitment to scriptural authority. This alignment allows us to focus on what matters most: making disciples, serving our community, and proclaiming the Gospel with clarity and conviction.
